Dr. Madhabi Mistry

Our path in life is never straightforward, and we are often left facing dilemmas and changes that are both surprising and difficult to navigate. Our shift into a new role, a disappointment at work, a problem in a relationship can cause us to feel anxious, nervous, sad, and confused. We try our best to manage these struggles and their resulting shifts in mood, sometimes using coping strategies that turn out to be more problematic than helpful. We are left thinking, what happened? How did I get here? Will I ever feel like my old self?  Why can’t I just get over this?

I believe there are many ways to approach a problem, and I thoroughly enjoy the experience of helping clients figure out the techniques that work best for them. You will find that I strive to create a warm and collaborative environment in which you could be at ease to share your struggles, reflect on past experiences and build mastery. I am trained in a variety of therapy techniques, including psychodynamic, relational, and CBT.  I am interested in helping clients develop practical everyday solutions as well as a deeper and meaningful understanding of themselves.

I am motivated and inspired by the diversity of life experience represented by my clients. So many clients, and their families have helped me to become sensitive to the unique challenges each person faces.

I work at Azimuth Psychological, a unique place where we see clients as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. Our clients work to gain perspectives and insights that help get them unstuck so they can reach their goals, whatever that may be. We make your process as easy as possible, whether that’s scheduling your appointment (have us call you!), completing your paperwork (all online), paying for your sessions (credit cards), locating ourselves next to a variety of public transportation options (T and Bus), and giving us feedback (anonymous electronic forms). Please don't hesitate to reach out — I am happy to answer an questions you may have.
