Marci Beth Simon
Whether you're worried about your child’s mood, stressful life events, or something else entirely, I can help them identify the problems they are facing and develop new coping skills. I am a strong advocate for clients and families, and use modern, evidence-based techniques to help clients reach their goals.
I have practiced in this field for over 15 years. I started working in Emergency Rooms, where I primarily focused on the assessment and evaluation of major mental health disorders. I gradually became involved in more outpatient work, and have had a busy private practice for the last 7+ years. In addition to my graduate work, I regularly take continuing education courses on adolescent psychology, anxiety disorders, and relationship strategies. I have also had the privilege of teaching Child and Adolescent Psychopathology at the graduate level.
I especially enjoy working with adolescents and young adults because it is an age where therapy can make such a large impact. Whenever it is practical to do so, I integrate cognitive therapies, including DBT and CBT, into my work. I also strongly believe in and encourage clients to use grounding skills, relaxation strategies, and mindfulness. I understand that parents want regular feedback from their child’s therapist, and encourage frequent contact between us so that everyone can stay “in the loop”. I also appreciate the importance of coordinating with the child’s school and other treaters and am committed to helping everyone stay connected so that we can best help your child succeed.
