Dr. Samuel Roth
I am a clinical psychologist in full-time private practice in Newton Center. I work with people of all ages, specializing in play therapy with young children and talk therapy with adolescents and adults. I also provide couple and family therapy, and parent guidance.
I use active, results-oriented methods in therapy while also emphasizing deeper understanding of one’s own motivations, and encouraging a stronger sense of agency and “choice.” When working with children and adolescents, I take a family-centered approach in which I partner with parents to facilitate the most effective adjustments for children -- not just in my office, but at home -- and if indicated, at school.
In addition to my practice, I teach a course on serious mental illness at Harvard Medical School and courses in child and adolescent development and psychotherapy at Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.
