My therapeutic philosophy begins with the belief that people are resilient, courageous, and have great capacity for compassion and kindness. However, from time to time, people struggle and feel paralyzed by suffering, anger and indecision; it is truly an honor to help clients through these difficult times. While I am trained in a variety of theories, I am flexible, knowing that each person is unique and may benefit from more creative approaches. Clients appreciate my direct, yet relaxed and supportive style, which incorporates a sense of humor and curiosity into each session.
As an Asian American, I understand professionally and personally the impact of multicultural issues in everyday life. First and second generation issues are often overlooked, and can leave people feeling isolated and misunderstood. I also have extensive experience working with refugees and those who have experienced trauma.
Many of my interventions include holistic work: blending movement, mindfulness and relaxation skills to improve symptoms. In addition to being a social worker, I am also a CrossFit trainer and I use this knowledge base to help clients work towards overall wellness. I offer relaxation skills workshops, Reiki, and walking therapy.
