Dr. Susan Meagher
Psychotherapy is an important undertaking that can offer a path to healing and personal growth. Finding the right therapist is essential to this process. I work collaboratively with patients to help them find an approach to suit their needs and values. My work draws most prominently from cognitive behavioral, relational, and mindfulness based approaches, all of which I believe provide people with both new insights and practical tools to live life more fully and authentically.
In my work with youth and their families, I take a developmental and systems approach- appreciating that children grow within the rich context of their families, schools, and greater communities. I strive to help families navigate bumps along the road and to face developmental challenges with greater understanding and compassion.
I have particular expertise in treating anxiety/depression, grief, and interpersonal/family stress as well as weight/body image concerns. My own personal work in meditation and yoga informs my clinical approach as I believe that contemplative practices can play an important role in emotional and physical health.
